Invisalign

Our teeth aren’t always perfect. When teeth come in crooked, typical treatment involves the use of dental braces or orthodontic retainers. However, the metal components of these devices can often be irritating or even painful, and many patients find that braces and retainers are visually unappealing. But with Invisalign technology, correcting the alignment of your teeth becomes painless and stress-free. Invisalign by Align Technology was created in 1998 and has been used by General Dentists and Orthodontists in over 45 countries to treat more than 1.5 million patients.

Suitable for both adults and teen patients, Invisalign treatment consists of a wearing a set of transparent retainers, fabricated from BPA-free plastic, which is perfectly smooth to ensure that the mouth is not irritated while the retainers are worn. The aligners are made from a digital impression of patients’ teeth, tailoring each retainer to the exact shape of their mouths. Aligners are worn for approximately two weeks, with each aligner completing a phase in the treatment process.

Acknowledging that each Invisalign patient is unique, correctional treatment time for adults is about one year, while treatment time for teenagers is comparable to treatment time for braces. When applied by your General Dentist or Orthodontist, Invisalign technology is discrete and barely visible, allowing you to pursue your daily life with no interruption—and to achieve amazing results in a relatively short period of time.

Invisalign For Teens

For teenagers who want to stay focused on school, sports, socializing, and the other important aspect of life, Invisalign’s clear retainers allow them to carry on as normal—the discrete, transparent plastic is almost unnoticeable, especially when it’s time for photographs and graduation. One of the many advantages to Invasalign is the removable aligner. Unlike orthodontic wires or other corrective alignment treatments, the retainer can simply be taken out when it’s time to eat, and placed in the mouth again when finished. Compared to other corrective dental treatments, Invisalign also makes it easier to brush and floss teeth, which is often a challenge with more traditional braces or wires. Because Invisalign technology is perfectly smooth and molded to fit the unique shape of each patient’s mouth, the retainer doesn’t interfere with physical activity and reduces the chance of injury to the cheeks, tongue, and gums from falls or jolts.

What’s Involved?

Invisalign Clear Orthodontic Retainers are used by Orthodontists and General Dentists to correct improper alignment in patients’ teeth, creating straight and healthy smiles. The first step in getting treatment is a consultation at Chestermere Smiles Dental and we will establish whether you are a good candidate for this teeth-straightening system. One of your suitability for an Invisalign retainer has been determined, your dental professional’s next step will be to take a digital impression of your teeth to send to Invisalign for the development of your retainer. Every Invisalign retainer is custom-made to focus on your specific needs as a patient. One of your retainers have been made, they are shipped back to Chestermere Smiles Dental and are fitted for the patient.

Invisalign retainers are exceptionally easy to wear and remove, making eating meals and brushing teeth much simpler compared to older corrective treatments. Typical treatment involves wearing a new aligner every two weeks until the desired treatment goal has been reached. Each aligner applies a gentle force that gradually moves teeth into straighter, healthier positions, and each new aligner received at the beginning of every two-week period has a slightly altered shape to accommodate the changing shape of the mouth—which creates a beautiful smile. Best of all, Invisalign is a highly affordable orthodontic system that allows adults and teens to have the smile they’ve always dreamed of.
